Candle Care - Getting the Most from Your Candles

Candle Care - Getting the Most from Your Candles

Follow these tips to get the most enjoyment from your Deeper Roots candle!

  1. Burn your candle for 1 hour per inch of diameter.
  2. For your first burn, make sure you get a complete melt pool (edge to edge of melted wax). This may sometimes require a little longer than the 1 hour per inch rule.
  3. Never leave a burning candle unattended!
  4. Avoid burning under a ceiling fan.
  5. Make sure you keep your wicks trimmed to between ¼” to ½”.
  6. If your wick “mushrooms”, you can simply trim it off. Make sure you keep your wicks trimmed to between ¼” to ½” and avoid getting debris in the melt pool.
  7. If your wick leans to one side while burning, this is normal but you can straighten it to help ensure an even burn.
  8. To extinguish your candle, use a snuffer or dip the wick into the melt pool and then re-straighten. This method will also help prevent soot and smoke.
  9. Once your candle cools following a burn, you may notice bumpiness on the top surface of the wax. This is normal and is a characteristic of using natural waxes.
  10. Don’t burn all of the wax out of your candle, as this can overheat the jar. To prevent risk of breakage, stop burning your candle once there is ¼” to ½” inch of wax remaining in the bottom.
  11. Clean out any remaining wax and soak your jar in warm soapy water. You can then remove the wick, wash jar, and reuse your beautiful container!
